"Renee was absolutely fantastic to work with! I gave her little to work on and she created exactly what I envisioned for my wedding. Renee really set the tone for my wedding from the moment I sent out the save the dates. She created beautiful, romantic pieces of work that truly made my day special. I had several people comment on how elegant and gorgeous the invitations were. Those small, but huge details really make everything come together. It was also nice that my place cards could match everything else. It really makes it feel cohesive. Overall, she made my day even more perfect than I could ever imagine. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for high quality design. " - The Swanson's

BE FEARLESS IN THE PURSUIT OF WHAT SETS YOUR SOUL ON FIRE

If you were to tell me 6 months ago I would be a blogger I would’ve laughed. Writing has never been my strong suit and I never thought I would jump on that bandwagon. But, here I am doing exactly what I thought I would never be doing. When I first decided to give this blogging thing a shot it was solely to gain more business and attract new customers. After completing my first blog, I’ve realized I want my readers to understand who I am as a person.  My passion, drive, family and all the little things that happen along the way that keeps me going.

As an entrepreneur I know in order to become successful I need to hustle to gain a client base. I currently don’t have the ideal situation to go door to door to sell my business & myself. Unfortunately, I don’t think people would take me serious walking in with baby on my hip, even though she’s super adorable. I have to get creative and step outside of my comfort zone. This led me to blogging; I get to share a little about my life, thoughts and passions with all my readers.  In light of this I’m going to share my top 5 passions.

Family
Family means absolutely everything to me. I could go on and on about what family means to me, but I’ll share one of favorite moments. If you don’t know my husband he’s a goof ball, he’s constantly making me laugh. He does this thing when he’s cleaning, cooking, working, shopping, you name it he loves to sing these silly songs about the task he’s doing. Example: “I’m in the kitchen on a Tuesday, cookin this chicken in here who’s hungray!?  Add a little cheese that’s tasty! You better like this chicken it’s so cheesay!” He will be singing these silly songs and dance with our daughter. I can’t help but think at that moment how lucky I am.

Health & Fitness
Many people don’t know this, but my husband and I lost a combined 90lb together…some lost more than others. Ughh men! We’ve found a passion for healthy eating and fitness. Together we want to be the healthiest versions of ourselves for each other and our daughter. It hasn’t been easy, we still have our cheat days, sometime even cheat weeks and a few set backs but we motivate, support and help each other to get back on track to reach our goals.

Hiking
During my fitness journey I found the love for hiking. It’s not only a killer workout, but it’s so peaceful. I’m able to clear my mind and admire the beauty of nature. It’s amazing to stand at the top of a mountain and feel that sense of accomplishment while taking in a spectacular view. There are many places we would love to hike, but our next challenge will be hiking the Grand Canyon.

Travel
My husband and I have a map of the world hanging on our wall. Together we’ve pinned the top 10 places we want to travel to in our lifetime. We’ve made it a goal to travel to a new and exciting place each year. It doesn’t matter if it’s a camping trip or traveling around the world. We strive for that adventure and experience together.

Graphic Design
Graphic design is my passion and dream job. I get to be creative, work with amazing clients and be my own boss. I take a vision a client has and make it become a reality. Its an amazing feeling when you’re client fully loves what you’ve created for them. Phenomenal lady! You are truly the best at what you do. You have done such an amazing job bringing this brand to life! I am thrilled with the final product.” I do this not only because I love it, but to be able to accomplish all my other passions and dreams.

Just Keep Swimming

Today I'm going to chat about how I keep from going crazy... well on most days. I'm involved in an amazing mommy group. These ladies are so awesome, open, loving and supportive! While attending our weekly bachelorette viewing party which is filled with girl talk, well let's be honest mom talk, snacks and a few cocktails. We started chatting about the paths we chose of either being stay at home moms, full/part time working moms or a Momtrepreneur. We all have our reasoning’s, but we can all agree on one thing. When becoming a mom part of our identity gets lost. You love this little angel or some day’s monster so much that your life becomes their life. Your body no longer belongs to you, you revolve around a schedule and some days your toddler runs the house. This is why it’s so important to find a career, hobby or passion that keeps that identity, you know that person you were before you took on the wild ride of parenthood.
For me that passion was design. I've always been creative and had a love for art ever since I can remember. When I found a career where I could use my creativity and be an artist I was thrilled! Being a graphic designer was my newfound passion.  When I had my daughter my sole focus was around her and only her. She was my whole world, but something was missing. When I started taking on small design projects that spark and drive lit inside of me again. I would get a rush when I landed a client or finished a project. I started to gain that sense of self again. I knew I needed to follow that drive, but I still wanted to watch my daughter grow up. I was at a cross road. Do I follow my career or stay home with my daughter? I started doing my research and made the bold choice to take on both tasks! I stepped into the uneasy waters of freelancing with the hope I could swim. It’s a scary and uneasy choice to become a freelancer. You don’t have that steady paycheck and every month is different. This career path gave me the freedom to be my own boss and control my work schedule. I can become as busy or successful as I want to be. It's not easy, it's hard work everyday. I can’t say I’ve made it yet,  but I wake up with hope and excitement each day to better my business. I've had plenty of days where I want to call it quits, but I remember that feeling of accomplishment, pride and fulfillment both from being a mom and a designer. I may be in yoga pants, with food in my hair, chasing after a toddler while emailing my clients, but whoever said, "You can't have your cake and eat it too", is full of it! It's 12am as I finish this blog post and my daughter & husband are snuggled up next to me. This is my happy place where I feel the most accomplished and at peace. I challenge you mommies/daddy's, husbands/wives or bachelor/bachelorette to follow your dreams and keep that sense of self no matter what life throws at you. In honor of my daughter’s new favorite movie that we’ve watched 5 times already this week. I’ll leave you with some words of wisdom “Just Keep Swimming”-Dory.

Momtrepreneur

Welcome! My names Renee Clark and I’m a Momtrepreneur! You may be wondering what the heck a Momtrepreneur actually is, well let me tell you. My day is filled with play dates, mealtime, messes, diaper changes, crafts, nap times and snuggles, all while I run my own business.  I’m a proud mamma of an adventurous, full spirited and sweet 22-month-old baby girl. She is the light of our life and brings so much joy to our family. I also run my freelance graphic design business in between all the chaos. Let me tell you how I established the title Momtrepreneur.

I started out working as a graphic designer at a printing company right out of college. I was barley making ends meet, but was learning a lot and enhancing my design skills. My husband and I found out we were expecting. We knew that our lives would change, but never realized what we had in store.  In the middle of my pregnancy my husband was offered a job in Phoenix, Arizona. We decided it would be a great opportunity for our family to make the move from Wisconsin to Arizona. We were so excited to see what the future had in store for us.  While on maternity leave we decided it was best for me to stay home with our daughter. Since we were moving and I would be esstinaly working to pay for daycare. Staying home was a no brainer for us. I was in love with the idea of being a stay at home mom. I was able to see all my daughters firsts. Nothing can truly make your heart filled with so much love then being there for her first smile, giggle, steps, word, I could go on and on.  To say the least I LOVE being a stay at home mom. While enjoying all my daughters’ firsts, I was still taking on small design jobs here and there. I really decided it was time to make my dream a reality. I started promoting my work through social media and taking on jobs at a super low cost… I mean like dirt cheap. I was designing logos for ONLY $50.  After establishing a client base and quality products I was able to up my cost and start making a profit.

I’ve had many ups and downs as a business owner. Past clients who haven’t paid for their design services, hours and hours of unpaid work put into projects to make it just right and jobs that have fell through.  All of these have been great learning experiences. Nothing beats having a client be over joyed with the brand design, print collateral or wedding/event invitations I created for them. It makes the hard times all worth it! I pride myself on the quality work, prompt turn over and great customer service. Some nights I may be up until 12am busting my butt to meet a deadline, but it’s truly worth being able to watch my baby girl grow up all while I chase my passion & dreams. I’ll leave you with a quote that inspires me each day.  “Dare to live the life you have dreamed for yourself. Go forward and make your dreams come true.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson
